Woman's Body Found with Bullet Wound Near Patna Temple

Police discovered the body of a 40-year-old woman under suspicious circumstances early Monday morning. The incident occurred near a temple in Muradpur, which falls under the Janipur police station area in Patna.

The victim has been identified as Mala Devi from Jehanabad. She had traveled to Patna on Sunday to visit her in-laws.

Police Investigation Points to Revenge or Family Dispute

Authorities strongly suspect murder motivated by revenge or a family dispute. They have ruled out possibilities of sexual assault or robbery at this stage.

A special investigation team has been formed to probe the case thoroughly. This team will examine all aspects of the incident.

Details of the Victim's Movements

Mala Devi arrived in Patna on Sunday from her parental home in Jehanabad. Her purpose was to visit her in-laws who reside in Babhanpura, Phulwarisharif.

Her husband, Subodh Sharma, operates a hotel in Muradpur. He reported that Mala informed him via phone that she had reached Patna safely.

Shortly after this communication, their children called Subodh to express concern. They said Mala was not answering her phone.

Discovery of the Body

Police tracked Mala's location near her husband's shop in Muradpur. They found her body lying on the roadside in that area.

Upon receiving information about the discovery, a police team immediately reached the spot. They sent the body to AIIMS Patna for a post-mortem examination.

Senior Police Officials Visit Crime Scene

City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh rushed to the location with his team. Phulwarisharif SDPO Deepak Kumar also arrived promptly with his personnel.

Authorities called in a Forensic Science Laboratory team to collect scientific evidence from the crime scene. This evidence could prove crucial in the investigation.

Preliminary Findings and Investigation Focus

Preliminary investigations indicate the woman died from gunshot wounds. The SP confirmed there were no signs of sexual assault or robbery at the scene.

"The incident may have been motivated by revenge or a personal or family dispute," stated the SP. He emphasized this direction in the ongoing probe.

The special investigation team, led by Phulwarisharif SDPO, is examining technical evidence. This includes potential CCTV footage from the area.

Further action will depend on the FSL report and post-mortem findings. Police await these documents to proceed with the case.

Husband's Statement Contradicts Police Theory

Meanwhile, the victim's husband Subodh Sharma denied any personal enmity or family tensions. "I have no dispute or enmity with anyone," he stated firmly.

He added, "There is no tension in the family either." This statement presents a contrast to the police's current theory about the murder motive.

The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident in Patna.
