In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA)–II unit of the Yamunanagar police has cracked a high-profile murder case, leading to the arrest of two individuals, including the victim's own son. The case pertains to the killing of Baljinder Kaur, the wife of the sarpanch of Shyampur village.
Investigation Uncovers a Heinous Plot
The police action followed a tip-off received at the Sadhaura police station on December 24, 2025, regarding the suspicious death of Baljinder Kaur. Under the supervision of SP Kamaldeep Goyal, a special investigation team was formed as the circumstances seemed dubious. DSP Ashish Chaudhary stated that meticulous probe and technical evidence analysis led to the swift resolution of this brutal crime.
The investigation revealed a history of persistent family disputes between the deceased, Baljinder Kaur, and her son, Gomit Rathi. Due to these ongoing conflicts, Gomit was sent to England nearly two years ago. However, the familial discord persisted even after his relocation.
Secret Return and Premeditated Murder
Police discovered that Gomit Rathi secretly returned to India from England on December 18, 2025, without informing any of his family members. His associate, Pankaj, a resident of Shyampur village, was the only person aware of his return. Pankaj allegedly provided full logistical support, helping Gomit remain undetected in the village.
On the night of December 24, 2025, Gomit stealthily entered Shyampur and hid in a cattle shed. Later that night, he confronted his mother. The police stated that he first assaulted her and then strangled her to death. In an attempt to stage the scene as an accident or suspicious death, the accused dumped her body into a water tank. He fled the village immediately after committing the crime.
Arrests and Ongoing Probe
The CIA-II team successfully apprehended both accused. The arrested individuals have been identified as Gomit Rathi, the son of the deceased, and his accomplice, Pankaj. Both were produced before a local court, which has remanded them to four days of police custody.
DSP Ashish Chaudhary emphasized that during the remand period, the accused will undergo intensive interrogation. The police also aim to recover the weapons used in the murder. Officials reiterated that every aspect of the case is being scrutinized in detail to build a foolproof case for a strong prosecution.
The police have commended the role of technical surveillance and dedicated fieldwork in unraveling this complex case, which initially presented itself as a mysterious death.
