134 Agniveers Pass Out at Gorkha Centre in Varanasi

A total of 134 Agniveers took the oath to serve the nation during a ceremonial Passing Out Parade held at 39 Gorkha Training Centre in Varanasi on Saturday. The parade was reviewed by Zubin A Minwalla, DCIDS (Operations), Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff and Colonel of the 9 Gorkha Rifles.

Rigorous 24-Week Training Program

The ceremony marked the successful completion of 24 weeks of rigorous basic and advanced combat training designed to prepare the recruits for service in operational units. Reflecting the evolving nature of modern warfare, the training programme placed significant emphasis on the use of emerging technologies.

Drone Training as a Core Component

A key feature of the course was comprehensive drone training provided to all Agniveers. The recruits were trained in the operation and application of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), including their use for reconnaissance, surveillance and stand-off attacks, as well as techniques to counter hostile drones. Drone-related concepts were integrated into lectures, demonstrations and field exercises throughout the training period.
