Ahmedabad PG Stabbing: Door Dispute Leads to Murder

A 25-year-old man residing in a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Vejalpur was allegedly stabbed to death by two co-residents following a dispute over opening the room door. This incident marks the fifth murder in Ahmedabad in the past four days.

Victim and Incident Details

The deceased, identified as Hiren Solanki, was originally from Gadu village in Junagadh district. He had been living at Awas PG in Satyanarayan Society, Vejalpur, for the last three months while working in Ahmedabad. His father, Menasibhai Solanki, filed a complaint with Vejalpur police on Tuesday.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim's father was at work in Junagadh on Tuesday morning when he received a call from the PG informing him that Hiren had been involved in a scuffle with other residents. While he and his younger son were heading to Ahmedabad, they were directed to Sola Civil Hospital.

Police stated that the incident occurred around 7:30 am on Tuesday. The complaint alleges that two PG inmates, identified as Mahavirsinh Jadav and Ranvirsinh Sindhav, engaged in a heated argument with Hiren over opening the room door. The verbal altercation quickly escalated, leading to the accused allegedly abusing and assaulting Hiren. Mahavirsinh reportedly stabbed Hiren in the abdomen with a knife. Hiren was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Previous Altercations

Family members informed the police that the accused had previously picked quarrels with Hiren over similar issues within the PG premises. After the postmortem at Sola Civil Hospital, the body was handed over to the family for final rites at their native village. Vejalpur police registered a murder case and launched an investigation to trace and arrest the accused.

Arrests Made

Inspector R M Chauhan of Vejalpur police confirmed that both accused have been arrested. “The accused were staying in the PG for only eight days and had a couple of scuffles with the victim. Last night, there was a dispute over opening the room door as Hiren was slightly delayed. This led to a verbal altercation followed by a physical fight in which Hiren was fatally stabbed,” said Chauhan.
