Ajit Pawar's Son Demands Full Fleet Grounding After Disappointing Crash Report
In the first official reaction from the family of late deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar to the release of the preliminary report by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), his younger son Jay Pawar has expressed profound disappointment and demanded immediate action against the aviation firm involved in the fatal crash.
Family's Emotional Response to Preliminary Findings
Jay Pawar took to his social media account on Sunday to voice his concerns about the report, which was released on Saturday, exactly one month after the tragic crash that claimed his father's life on January 28. "I read the report of AAIB and I was disappointed due to its lack of depth," Jay Pawar wrote. "Along with the kin of the deceased, entire Maharashtra wants not just the formality of submission of the report but the truth and answers to all questions."
Demand for Comprehensive Safety Measures
In an extended status on his account, Jay Pawar argued that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation's (DGCA) decision to ground only four aircraft of VSR Ventures was insufficient. "DGCA decided to ground some of VSR's aircraft after finding some lacunae," he noted. "However, similar shortfalls cannot be ruled out for other planes in its fleet. Keeping passengers' safety as the highest priority, DGCA should decide on halting operations of the entire VSR fleet."
Video Evidence and Call for Arrest
Jay Pawar further escalated his demands by uploading a video on a social media portal that he claims shows VSR Ventures' owner Rohit Singh sleeping while sitting in the pilot's seat during a flight operation. While he did not specify the date and time of the video, Jay Pawar used this evidence to demand immediate arrest. "This is an emotional appeal for my father and also for the safety of every passenger," he wrote, emphasizing the broader implications for aviation safety.
Broader Context and Public Concern
The crash has raised significant questions about aviation safety protocols and regulatory oversight in Maharashtra. The preliminary AAIB report, which Jay Pawar criticized for lacking depth, has become a focal point for public and political scrutiny. The family's demands reflect growing concerns about whether proper investigations are being conducted and whether adequate measures are being taken to prevent future tragedies.
Jay Pawar's statements highlight several key issues:
- The perceived inadequacy of the preliminary AAIB report in addressing the causes of the crash
- Concerns about systemic safety failures within VSR Ventures' entire fleet
- Allegations of professional misconduct by the aviation firm's owner
- The emotional toll on families affected by aviation accidents
As the investigation continues, the demands from Ajit Pawar's family are likely to influence both public opinion and regulatory decisions regarding aviation safety standards in India.
