BJP revamp buzz grows; Nitin Nabin rushes back to Delhi

Nitin Nabin abruptly ends Punjab tour for Delhi meetings

BJP president Nitin Nabin on Monday cut short his Punjab visit and is rushing back to Delhi from Ludhiana this afternoon, fuelling speculation that a long-awaited organisational revamp of the party is imminent. According to the original schedule, Nabin was to travel to Chandigarh from Ludhiana, pay a courtesy call on Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and later dine at Punjab BJP chief Kewal Dhillon's residence with eminent state figures before returning to Delhi at night. However, all those engagements have been cancelled.

Organisational review meetings likely with PM Modi

Some organisational review meetings are said to be scheduled in Delhi later on Monday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi back from his G7 engagements and free after attending International Yoga Day celebrations in Kolkata on Sunday. The buzz around the BJP organisation revamp has intensified as the party's top brass prepares to finalise changes.

A meeting of the BJP and RSS on June 15 had broadly endorsed the re-organisation plans. A final nod from the Prime Minister was awaited since he was away for the G7 summit. The revamp of the BJP party is overdue and is expected to be announced any day now.
