NEW DELHI: In a significant political address, BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Sunday directed party workers in Uttar Pradesh to commence preparations for the crucial 2027 Assembly elections. During his first visit to the state after assuming the role of BJP president, Nabin issued a stern warning against what he described as "forces" that resurface during electoral periods with the intent to divide the country and undermine the Constitution.
Nabin's Veiled Attack on Opposition Parties
Speaking at a gathering in Mathura organized to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat programme, Nabin emphasized the approaching 2027 polls. He stated, "The 2027 elections are approaching. There are forces in the country who are working to divide and weaken the nation, and disrespect the Constitution. Such forces resurface whenever elections come, and we must be prepared to fight them politically."
Nabin made a veiled critique of opposition parties, remarking, "Sometimes they are seen praising the Constitution. Those who undermined the Constitution are also roaming freely. Those who only promoted anarchists are also around. We haven't forgotten that the UP government once ran at gunpoint. Today, if the UP government is functioning, it is because of the people's votes."
Confidence in BJP's Return to Power
Expressing strong confidence, Nabin asserted that the BJP would return to power in Uttar Pradesh after the next Assembly elections, which are anticipated to be held early next year. He credited the party's repeated electoral victories at the Centre to the dedicated efforts of BJP workers, highlighting that their prolonged struggle had yielded fruitful results.
Nabin praised the developmental strides under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, noting, "Today, every state in the country is moving on the path of development under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, with Uttar Pradesh playing a leading role." He specifically commended Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for transforming Uttar Pradesh into an 'uttam pradesh', contrasting it with its past reputation as a 'bimaru' region characterized by poor governance and lawlessness.
Focus on Development and Cultural Heritage
During his address, Nabin also highlighted various development and cultural projects underway in key cities such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Mathura. He emphasized the importance of preserving Sanatan traditions, stating, "Undoubtedly, every follower of Sanatan Dharma takes pride in a government that preserves Sanatan traditions and carries them forward."
Chief Minister Adityanath's Welcome and Temple Visit
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warmly welcomed Nabin on his inaugural visit to Uttar Pradesh as BJP president. Nabin traveled from Delhi to Mathura via the Yamuna Expressway, where he was greeted by enthusiastic party workers.
Following the gathering, Nabin and Adityanath visited the Shri Vrindavan Chandrodaya temple, managed by ISKCON Bengaluru on Vrindavan Marg, to listen to Prime Minister Modi's Mann Ki Baat address. Addressing the attendees, Adityanath expressed pride that Nabin chose Mathura, the sacred land of Lord Krishna, for his first visit as BJP chief.
This visit underscores the BJP's strategic focus on Uttar Pradesh ahead of the upcoming elections, with Nabin's call to action setting the tone for the party's campaign preparations in the state.
