In Kolhapur, a case has been registered at the Ishwarpur police station against approximately 250 agitators for their involvement in an illegal gathering, causing traffic disruption, and organizing a bike rally. The rally was held to demand the cancellation of the Pavnar to Patradevi (Nagpur-Goa) Maharashtra Shaktipeeth Expressway project.
Complaint Filed by Police
Assistant Police Inspector Arun Jangam of the Ishwarpur police station filed the complaint regarding the incident. According to the police, the bike rally was organized on Thursday with the aim of raising awareness among the 11 villages that are expected to be affected by the Shaktipeeth Expressway project.
Details of the Rally
The rally saw the participation of around 250 individuals, including residents from Borgaon and other villages. The agitators gathered without prior permission, leading to significant traffic congestion in the area. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for unlawful assembly and obstruction of public way.
The Shaktipeeth Expressway project has been a subject of contention among local residents who fear displacement and environmental impact. The authorities are investigating the matter further.
