Chhattisgarh police successfully traced a total of 4,056 missing persons, including 545 children, during a month-long special drive named "Operation Talash" conducted across the state from April 1 to April 30. The initiative was launched on the directions of Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, aiming to locate individuals who had gone missing under various circumstances.
Drive Execution and Coordination
The campaign focused on tracking missing persons through dedicated police teams formed in all districts. Police headquarters issued comprehensive guidelines to Superintendents of Police (SPs) and nodal officers, who led intensive searches at every possible location. This systematic approach ensured a wide coverage and effective coordination among different units.
Breakdown of Recovered Individuals
According to police headquarters, the traced individuals included 75 boys, 470 girls, 972 men, and 2,539 women. A significant achievement of the drive was the recovery of 182 missing persons from other states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Himachal Pradesh. This inter-state collaboration highlights the extensive efforts made to bring back individuals who had crossed state borders.
District-Wise Performance
Among districts, Durg traced the highest number of missing persons at 683, followed by Bilaspur with 648 and Raipur with 426. These figures reflect the concentrated efforts in urban and semi-urban areas where missing cases are more prevalent.
Reunification and Commitment
Police officials confirmed that all rescued children, women, and men were reunited with their families after completing due procedures. The campaign underscores the force's sensitivity, accountability, and unwavering commitment to public trust. By prioritizing the safe return of missing individuals, the Chhattisgarh police have set a benchmark for similar operations in other regions.
