Congress MP Hits Back at Kerala CM Over Telangana Demolition Remarks

Congress MP Defends Telangana Government, Accuses Kerala CM of Political Motives

Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy strongly criticized Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday, labeling his remarks about demolitions in Telangana's Khammam district as purely politically motivated. Reddy asserted that Vijayan's comments were strategically timed with an eye on upcoming assembly elections, aiming to undermine the Congress government in Telangana.

Reddy Slams BRS Working President Over Rahul Gandhi Allegations

In a sharp rebuke, the Congress MP also targeted BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) for making what he called baseless allegations against Rahul Gandhi. "Rahul Gandhi visited Telangana to discuss Congress' organisational strengthening efforts," Reddy stated. "KTR operates under the assumption that everyone will engage in state looting similar to the practices he and his father (KCR) allegedly perpetuated during the BRS government's nearly decade-long tenure. Congress functions as a national party with structured training programmes, whereas BRS represents nothing more than family rule, lacking even basic training for district presidents."

Kerala CM's 'Bulldozer Raj' Post Draws Strong Response

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had taken to social media platform X, describing the Congress government in Telangana as operating a 'bulldozer raj' in reference to demolitions carried out on Bhoodan land in Velugumatla, Khammam district. Reddy countered this characterization forcefully, stating, "CM Vijayan leveled these allegations without possessing a proper understanding of the actual events in Khammam. The CPI serves as an ally of Congress in Telangana. The Kerala CM should have consulted CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, who represents the Kothagudem constituency in Khammam district, before making such accusations against the Congress government."

Congress Government's Commitment to the Poor Emphasized

Reddy further emphasized the commitment of the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government to pro-poor policies. "The Revanth Reddy-led Congress government consistently stands for the poor and marginalized communities," he declared. The MP's comments highlight ongoing political tensions between state governments and opposition parties as election seasons approach, with rhetoric intensifying around governance and development issues.

The exchange underscores broader political dynamics in Indian federalism, where state-level parties frequently critique each other's administrations, particularly when ideological differences or electoral competition come into play. The Congress MP's defense of his party's government in Telangana reflects efforts to maintain political credibility and counter narratives that could potentially damage public perception ahead of crucial electoral battles.
