Congress MP Randhawa slams Centre over LPG price hike

Chandigarh: Reacting to the hike in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, Congress MP from Gurdaspur and former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Friday said, "On Labour Day, the central govt has given a gift of inflation."

Randhawa's Statement

In a written statement, Randhawa said, "At a time when the entire country is paying tribute to the contribution of the working class, the Centre has increased LPG cylinder prices, delivering yet another blow of inflation to the common people, which is extremely unfortunate. This move will further increase the hardships of the general public, especially the labour class."

Impact on Workers

He said, "Workers in Punjab often rely on affordable meals at roadside eateries, but rising inflation is now making even these meals expensive. This situation is a matter of serious concern, and the govt should intervene immediately."

The price hike has sparked criticism from opposition parties, who argue that it undermines the spirit of Labour Day and adds to the financial burden on citizens already grappling with rising costs.
