WANDOOR: Congress candidate A P Anilkumar has won the Wandoor (SC) Assembly constituency in Kerala's Malappuram district with a total of 1,21,074 votes in the 2026 assembly elections. The victory marks a successful retention of the seat for the Congress party after a closely watched contest.
Voter Turnout and Candidates
The Wandoor constituency recorded a voter turnout of 69.26% in the 2026 elections. A total of four candidates contested the seat, including CPI(M)'s K K Damodaran and two Independent candidates. The election saw a competitive battle, but Anilkumar emerged victorious.
Previous Election Performance
In the 2021 assembly elections, A P Anilkumar had also won the Wandoor seat, defeating CPI(M) candidate P Mithuna by a margin of 15,563 votes. The Congress party has consistently performed well in this constituency, which is a Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved seat.
