Congress demands probe into Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav's kin land deal
Congress seeks probe into MP CM Yadav's land deal

The Congress party on Tuesday escalated its attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government, demanding a probe into an alleged 253-acre land deal linked to the family of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. Senior Congress leader K C Venugopal questioned why central investigating agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have not taken action, accusing the BJP of applying double standards.

Congress Questions Lack of Action

Speaking to the media, Venugopal directly addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking whether allegations involving a chief minister of a BJP-ruled state warranted an inquiry. “PM Modi, why have the ED and CBI not knocked on the doors of Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav? Is a 253-acre mega land scam not grounds enough to pursue him and punish him for his crimes?” Venugopal said.

The Congress leader highlighted that similar allegations against opposition leaders often prompt immediate investigations, but the same standard is not applied to BJP leaders. He insisted that the public deserves answers regarding the alleged land transactions in Ujjain.

Alleged Land Transactions in Ujjain

Venugopal referred to land purchases allegedly made before the announcement of key infrastructure and development projects in the region. The Congress has alleged that the Yadav family benefited from these transactions, which they claim amount to a scam. The party has demanded a thorough investigation by the ED and CBI.

“The silence of the government on this controversy is deafening,” Venugopal added. “We demand a fair and transparent probe to uncover the truth.”

Political Context

The allegations come amid a heated political climate, with the Congress accusing the BJP of protecting its own leaders while targeting opposition figures. The Congress has previously raised similar concerns about other BJP-ruled states, alleging corruption and cronyism.

The Madhya Pradesh government has not yet responded to the allegations. However, BJP spokespersons have dismissed the Congress’s claims as politically motivated, stating that no evidence of wrongdoing has been presented.
