Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Hails PM Modi's Leadership on Government's First Anniversary

In a significant ceremony held in New Delhi on Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta publicly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, highlighting a notable shift toward female leadership in governance. The event marked the first anniversary of the BJP-led Delhi government, with CM Gupta and BJP National President Nitin Nabin officially flagging off a massive fleet of 4,000 electric buses.

Historic Launch of Electric Bus Fleet

This launch establishes Delhi's electric vehicle (EV) fleet as the largest in the country, representing a major milestone in urban mobility and environmental sustainability. The addition of 4,000 electric buses is projected to drastically reduce the city's carbon footprint while modernizing public transit infrastructure.

CM Gupta was joined by key dignitaries including Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, and BJP National President Nitin Nabin. Together, they also inaugurated the Delhi-Panipat bus service as part of the anniversary celebrations.

Celebrating Women-Led Development

Addressing the gathering, CM Gupta credited her team's 365-day effort and emphasized that women-led development is thriving under PM Modi's guidance. "This is the wonder of PM Modi's leadership: the women's driver, the women's secretary, and the women's chief minister, where women-led development is possible in the country," she stated.

Gupta expressed particular satisfaction with the timing of the bus fleet handover, noting, "I am pleased that on 8th February, we are able to serve the people of Delhi, thanks to their trust and blessings. A large fleet of 4,000 EV buses has been handed over to the people of Delhi, making it the largest in the country."

Addressing Past Neglect in Development

The Chief Minister contrasted the current administration's achievements with what she described as years of neglect under previous governments. "For eleven years, Delhi lagged behind in development. The hopes and aspirations of the people of Delhi withered away. Delhi stopped dreaming of development," Gupta asserted.

She detailed how residents were previously left without basic amenities such as water, sewage, and healthcare. "But in the 2025 assembly elections, the people of Delhi gave a befitting reply to those who claimed to be the masters of Delhi," she added, referencing former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Gupta continued, "Arrogant Kejriwal used to say, 'You will have to be reborn to defeat me.' But the people of Delhi, in this very lifetime, in this very Ramlila Maidan, changed the atmosphere of Delhi by forming the BJP government."

Government's Commitment to Promises

Transport Minister Pankaj Singh reinforced the administration's dedication to fulfilling its commitments, announcing not only the 4,000 electric buses but also the introduction of 500 additional electric buses and improved connectivity between Delhi and Panipat.

CM Gupta concluded by acknowledging the collective effort of her administration, stating, "I am pleased that all our ministers and the entire government have been working for Delhi for 365 days." The event served as both a celebration of the government's first-year accomplishments and a reaffirmation of its "women-led development" philosophy under PM Modi's leadership.
