Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Chairs High-Level MCD Review Meeting

In a significant move to enhance urban infrastructure, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presided over a high-level review meeting of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) works. The session concentrated on critical areas of sanitation and waste management, with a strong emphasis on outcome-driven implementation strategies.

Focus on Sanitation and Public Toilet Redevelopment

Chief Minister Gupta underscored that Delhi's transformation into a clean and modern metropolis hinges on effective execution at the ground level. She assured comprehensive budget support for the ambitious redevelopment of approximately 1,000 public toilets and urinal blocks across the city. This initiative aims to address public hygiene concerns and improve facilities for residents.

Modernizing Waste Management Infrastructure

To revolutionize waste management practices, Gupta issued directives for the priority development of waste-to-energy plants at key locations: Ghazipur, Narela, Okhla, and Tehkhand. These facilities are expected to convert municipal waste into energy, contributing to sustainable urban development and reducing landfill dependency.

While acknowledging progress in managing construction and demolition waste, she urged officials to improve recycling and reuse efforts through the adoption of advanced technologies.

Improving Road Construction Quality

In addition to sanitation and waste management, Gupta stressed the importance of elevating road construction standards. She proposed assigning zone-wise responsibilities to larger, experienced firms to ensure higher quality and durability in infrastructure projects.
