Delhi's Master Plan 2041 Set for Swift Approval, Chief Minister Announces

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has declared that the city's Master Plan 2041 is likely to receive approval in the near future. She made this significant announcement on Saturday while presenting her government's one-year performance report in the south Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.

Addressing the Policy Gap in Urban Planning

Gupta emphasized that Delhi residents have been eagerly awaiting the new Master Plan to guide the capital's structured and planned development. The previous Master Plan 2021, which played a crucial role in shaping Delhi's land use, housing patterns, infrastructure development, and commercial growth, has officially lapsed. This expiration has created a substantial policy vacuum for long-term urban planning strategies.

The proposed Master Plan 2041, which has been under development for several years, is expected to provide much-needed clarity and direction regarding land use regulations, housing policies, and infrastructure frameworks for the next two decades. This comprehensive plan aims to establish a clear roadmap for sustainable urban expansion and improved living standards across the national capital.

Public Outreach and Governance Focus

The Chief Minister attended this public meeting as part of an extensive outreach initiative designed to engage directly with residents after completing one full year in office. Gupta stated that her administration has concentrated intensely on enhancing service delivery mechanisms, improving governance structures, and accelerating development projects throughout the past twelve months.

"Under the inspirational guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, we have worked with the unwavering resolve of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'. During this inaugural year, our government has successfully laid the foundational groundwork for a developed Delhi by ensuring that all sections of the city, including south Delhi, are integrated into the mainstream of progressive development," Gupta elaborated during her address.

Substantial Development Funding for South Delhi

South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who was present alongside MLA Kailash Gahlot at the event, revealed that crores of rupees are being allocated toward development works in the southern region of the capital. Bidhuri provided specific financial details, noting that Chief Minister Gupta successfully secured approximately Rs 40,000 crore in sanctioned funds from both the Central Government and the Delhi Government specifically earmarked for south Delhi's development.

These substantial resources are being strategically deployed across multiple critical infrastructure initiatives, including metro network expansion, construction of elevated roads and flyovers, road improvements, electricity infrastructure upgrades, water supply enhancements, sewerage system modernization, school constructions, dispensary establishments, and park developments.

Bidhuri further explained that development projects valued between Rs 200 crore and Rs 700 crore are currently underway in each assembly constituency within south Delhi. Additionally, nearly Rs 2,000 crore has been specifically allocated for comprehensive village development programs throughout the region.

Environmental Commitments and Cleanliness Initiatives

Chief Minister Gupta also reinforced her government's environmental commitments, pledging to eliminate what she described as the city's "mountains of garbage" through systematic waste management reforms. The administration is dedicated to ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable, and pollution-free capital that prioritizes environmental health alongside urban development.

This dual focus on infrastructural advancement and ecological responsibility underscores the comprehensive approach being adopted under the forthcoming Master Plan 2041, which promises to shape Delhi's urban landscape for generations to come.
