Fire at Amritsar Gurdwara Tent, No Casualties

Amritsar: A fire broke out in a tent at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh Ji on Wednesday, causing panic among devotees. As soon as the fire erupted, the sangat and sewadars rushed to extinguish it. The tent had been installed to protect devotees from the intense heat.

According to reports, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the electrical wiring. However, the gurdwara management did not confirm the cause of the fire.

Just four days earlier, on Sunday, the shuttering of the langar hall at the same gurdwara had collapsed, killing two women who were reciting prayers, while around nine devotees were injured.

According to reports, the tent had been set up within the premises of the gurdwara. At around 1 pm, smoke was seen billowing from one section of the tent. Soon, the flames spread rapidly. Panic spread due to the fire, and devotees present in the complex were moved to safer areas.

Meanwhile, the sewadars and devotees present at the site began efforts to control the fire. Using buckets of water and pipes, they tried to bring the blaze under control. Due to the prompt action of the congregation and volunteers, the fire was completely extinguished within a short time. No casualties were reported in the incident.
