Haryana Congress chief slams govt over firing at MLA office

Congress President Condemns Firing Incident at MLA Office

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narendra Singh on Saturday criticized the state government over the worsening law and order situation in Haryana, following a firing incident at the office of Meham MLA Balram Singh Dangi. Rao called the incident alarming, stating it indicated a breakdown of law and order and highlighted the growing audacity of criminals in the state.

Security Concerns for Elected Representatives

Rao emphasized that if elected representatives, despite having security, cannot feel safe at their own offices, the situation for ordinary citizens can be inferred. He alleged that crime, gang warfare, extortion, and anti-social activities are increasing across Haryana, creating fear and insecurity among the public. Frequent reports of violent incidents from different parts of the state have raised concerns about policing and security arrangements.

Weakening Public Confidence

Rao also claimed that public confidence in the administration is weakening amid rising crimes against women, youth, and common citizens. Referring to a previous security breach at his residence in Narnaul, he said no special security measures were taken despite informing the authorities. He further claimed that the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee office also lacks adequate security.

Demand for Investigation and Action

Questioning the government's response, Rao asked whether it was waiting for a major tragedy before acting. He demanded a fair and time-bound investigation into the firing incident and strict action against those responsible. Rao warned of statewide protests, saying the Congress would launch a mass agitation if the government fails to ensure public safety and curb rising crime in Haryana.
