The State's Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur districts, forecasting continued heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 7, 2026. The alert warns of water-logging in low-lying areas, low visibility, and temporary disruption of essential services due to the intense downpour.

Yellow Alert Issued for Five Additional Districts

A yellow weather alert has also been issued for Kullu, Solan, Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur districts, where heavy to moderate rain is expected at isolated places throughout the day. Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious.

Advisory for Residents and Travelers

The Meteorological Centre has advised people to adhere to traffic advisories and avoid venturing into vulnerable areas. They have also been urged to keep a safe distance from water bodies to prevent accidents. Authorities are on standby to manage any emergency situations arising from the heavy rains.

Minimum Temperatures Remain Normal

Despite the heavy rainfall, minimum temperatures across the state remain near normal. Shimla and Manali recorded a minimum temperature of 17.7°C each, while Dharamshala recorded 17.4°C. Other notable readings include Mandi at 23.7°C, Solan at 21.6°C, Kalpa at 15°C, Reckongpeo at 18°C, Bilaspur at 25°C, Hamirpur at 25.1°C, Una at 21.2°C, Kangra at 23.7°C, Bhuntar at 21.1°C, Keylong at 10.8°C, Chamba at 22.1°C, Nahan at 20°C, and Paonta Sahib at 27°C.

Coldest Place in the State

Kukumseri village in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 10.2°C, making it the coldest location in Himachal Pradesh on this day.

Precautionary Measures

The Meteorological Centre has recommended that people stay indoors unless necessary, avoid travel through waterlogged areas, and keep emergency supplies ready. Farmers have been advised to postpone agricultural activities until the weather improves. Tourists are urged to check weather updates before planning trips to hill stations.
