The Meteorological Centre in Shimla has issued a yellow alert for 10 districts of Himachal Pradesh for Sunday, June 22, predicting heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at isolated places. The alert covers Shimla, Kullu, Kangra, Solan, Mandi, Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, and Sirmaur districts.
Extended Rain Forecast and Temperature Outlook
According to the Met Centre, a yellow alert has also been issued for the entire state for June 22, with continuous rain expected in most parts till June 24. Despite the wet spell, maximum and minimum temperatures are predicted to remain normal, with no large change anticipated.
In the past 24 hours, light rain was recorded across many parts of the state. Manali received 19 mm of rain, Kufri 17.5 mm, and Shimla 1.2 mm. Minimum temperatures during this period were normal, ranging between 7°C and 27°C. Maximum temperatures dropped by 2-4°C, ranging between 17°C and 38°C.
Temperature Variations Across Districts
The maximum temperature in Shimla was 27°C, Dharamsala 30.1°C, Manali 26.4°C, Solan 32°C, Kangra 34.5°C, Mandi 34.6°C, Bilaspur 35°C, Sundernagar 36.3°C, Kufri 20.8°C, Bhuntar 33.6°C, Kalpa 24.8°C, and Nahan 33.8°C. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Una at 38°C, while the lowest minimum temperature was 6.5°C at Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district.
The Met Centre has advised residents and visitors to take precautions against lightning and gusty winds during thunderstorms.
