Unanimous Election of Office-Bearers
Satinder Singh, councillor from Ward No. 1, was unanimously elected as the president of the Jandiala Guru municipal council, while Amandeep Singh Virk, councillor from Ward No. 15, was elected as vice-president during the general house meeting held on Monday. The elections were conducted with the support of all councillors present, reflecting a unified consensus in the 15-member council.
The election process was overseen by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Amritsar-I, Alka Kalia, who chaired the meeting. During the session, all newly elected councillors were administered the oath of office and secrecy, formalizing their tenure.
Key Attendees and Political Context
Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, who also serves as the MLA from the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency, attended the meeting as a special guest. His presence underscored the government's interest in local governance. In the recent civic body elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured a decisive majority, winning 13 out of the 15 wards in the municipal council.
Congratulating the newly elected office-bearers, Harbhajan Singh stated that the new team would give fresh momentum to the overall development of Jandiala Guru. He emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening urban infrastructure and providing better civic amenities to residents.

The minister expressed confidence that the new council would meet the expectations of the people and further strengthen the town’s heritage and identity.
