Jharkhand Electoral Chief Urges Swift Action on Voter Document Verification
In a significant move to streamline the electoral process, Jharkhand's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar issued a directive on Thursday, calling for the expedited verification of voter documents. This initiative targets documents sent from other states where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is currently underway.
Focus on Natives Residing Outside Jharkhand
The documents in question belong to natives of Jharkhand who are currently residents of other states. K Ravi Kumar emphasized that CEO offices in these states have forwarded forms for verification to ascertain the authenticity of the documents, as these individuals' names are missing from the earlier SIR voter lists. The verification process will be conducted promptly in Jharkhand, with the documents to be sent back without delay.
Preparations for Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls
K Ravi Kumar stressed the importance of completing preparations for the SIR in a timely manner to facilitate a smoother revision process. He instructed electoral officers to prepare comprehensive lists by conducting intensive checks on various categories of voters. This includes absent voters, those who have shifted, deleted entries, and duplicate voters, along with ensuring accurate parental mapping in the electoral rolls.
Furthermore, he mandated that no cases related to blurred photographs of voters in the electoral roll should remain pending. For clear and colored photographs on voter identity cards, the concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are required to click and upload photos directly onto the BLO app.
Enhancing Voter Support and Communication
To improve voter engagement and support, the state CEO highlighted the use of the 'Book a Call with BLO' feature via ECINET. BLOs are directed to resolve voter issues promptly and contact call requests received through the app in a timely fashion. This step aims to enhance communication and address concerns efficiently during the electoral revision.
Verification Forms Received from Various Regions
K Ravi Kumar provided specific data on the verification forms received, revealing that 1,640 forms have come from West Bengal, 106 from Chhattisgarh, and 53 from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This influx underscores the scale of the verification task and the need for swift processing to maintain electoral integrity and accuracy.
Overall, these directives are part of a broader effort to ensure that the SIR of electoral rolls in Jharkhand is conducted efficiently, with a focus on accuracy, transparency, and voter convenience.
