Leaders in Kerala have expressed confidence as the state prepares for the announcement of the Kerala Assembly Elections 2026 results on May 4. Speaking to reporters, Kerala Minister P A Mohamed Riyas, representing the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], asserted that the situation is favorable for the Left Democratic Front (LDF) across the state.
LDF's Position Strong, Says Minister
Riyas, who serves as a minister in the outgoing LDF government, highlighted that the coalition's performance in the elections has been strong. He noted that the LDF's campaign focused on development and welfare schemes, which resonated well with the voters. The minister expressed optimism about the final outcome, stating that the alliance is expected to secure a comfortable majority.
Opposition's Response
Meanwhile, leaders from the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have also voiced their expectations. UDF leaders claimed that there has been a significant anti-incumbency wave against the LDF government, which could work in their favor. BJP state leaders said they have made inroads in several constituencies, particularly in northern Kerala.
