As the Kerala Assembly Elections 2026 results approach on May 3, political parties are making elaborate preparations for victory celebrations. In Pandikkad, Malappuram district, workers from the Congress and the United Democratic Front (UDF) are busy preparing biryani for approximately 5,000 people in anticipation of a win. The aroma of biryani fills the air as large cauldrons simmer with spiced rice and meat, a traditional dish symbolizing festivity and unity.
Elaborate Preparations Underway
The UDF workers have also prepared laddoos, a popular Indian sweet, to distribute among supporters. These preparations reflect the high hopes and confidence of the coalition after a vigorous campaign. The LDF, led by the CPI(M), is also gearing up for possible celebrations, though with a more subdued approach. The election is seen as a crucial test for both major fronts in the state.
Significance of Pandikkad
Pandikkad, a constituency in Malappuram, has been a stronghold for the UDF. The local party workers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a grand celebration if their candidate emerges victorious. The biryani preparation is a community effort, with volunteers chopping vegetables, marinating meat, and tending to the cooking fires since early morning.
The Election Commission has made all arrangements for the counting of votes, which will begin at 8 AM. Security has been tightened at counting centers across the state. The results are expected to be declared by late afternoon, setting the stage for either jubilation or introspection for the parties involved.
