Mizoram Appoints Retired IAS Officer Lalzirmawia Chhangte as New Information Commissioner
The state of Mizoram has officially appointed Lalzirmawia Chhangte, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, as the new information commissioner. Lalzirmawia Chhangte brings over three decades of administrative experience to this crucial role. A native of Tarpho village in south Mizoram's Hnahthial district, he has held numerous key positions across various departments within the Mizoram government. His career began in 1991 when he joined the Mizoram Civil Service, and he retired as secretary to the Mizoram government, having contributed extensively to policy formulation and public administration throughout his tenure.

In addition to his administrative prowess, Chhangte boasts an impressive academic background. He holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree, along with a Bachelor's degree in civil service. Further enhancing his qualifications, he has earned a postgraduate diploma in public administration and a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree, underscoring his commitment to professional development and expertise in governance.
