MLA Ponnanna Advocates for Women's Leadership as Catalyst for Societal Advancement

Madikeri: Virajpet MLA Ajjikuttira S Ponnanna declared that society can only achieve genuine progress when women take the lead and come to the forefront. He made these remarks while addressing the International Women's Day programme organized by the Pommakada Koota at the Srimangala Kodava Samaj on Sunday, highlighting the pivotal role women occupy in contemporary society.

Women's Empowerment Must Translate into Tangible Action

Ponnanna asserted that social progress is inevitable and assured when women lead from the front. He emphasized that women's empowerment stands as a key priority for the government, stressing that Women's Day should not be merely a symbolic observance but must evolve into meaningful and concrete actions that foster real change.

The MLA noted that women today are excelling in every field on par with men, with their significant presence in the army, sports, public life, and various other spheres of society serving as a powerful testament to their empowerment. He urged women to organize themselves collectively to drive the betterment and upliftment of society as a whole.

MLA Launches Major Power Infrastructure Project

In a related development, MLA Ponnanna inaugurated work on a significant 66/11 kV power distribution centre in Balele. This project, with an estimated cost of Rs 27.23 crore, is designed to substantially improve power quality and reliability across the region.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone, Ponnanna revealed that the state government has allocated over Rs 200 crore in grants to ensure quality power supply throughout the constituency, with work being executed in systematic phases. He added that the new power centre in Balele will play a crucial role in delivering reliable and continuous electricity to local farmers and residents, thereby supporting agricultural and domestic needs.

Karnataka Sports Authority vice-president Cheppudira Arun Machaiah was also present at the power project launch ceremony, underscoring the collaborative efforts towards regional development.
