Mysuru Panel to Fix Land Value for Vinoba, JLB Road Corridors
Mysuru Panel to Fix Land Value for Vinoba, JLB Corridors

The Public Works Department (PWD), Mysuru division, has constituted a panel to determine the value of land required for the acquisition for the Vinoba and JLB road corridor projects. This initiative aims to streamline the compensation process and expedite the development of these key infrastructure corridors in Mysuru.

Panel Formation and Purpose

The newly formed panel will assess the market value of the land parcels falling within the alignment of the Vinoba Road and JLB Road corridors. The assessment will follow the guidelines of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The panel includes officials from the Revenue Department, PWD, and the City Corporation.

DPR Preparation by Vistaara Infra Consultants

The PWD has engaged a private company, Vistaara Infra Consultants, to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for these road corridors. The contract is valued at Rs 4.80 crore. The DPR will cover the technical design, cost estimation, and environmental impact assessment. The consultants are expected to submit the report within six months.

According to a senior PWD official, the land acquisition process is critical for the timely completion of the road corridors. The Vinoba and JLB roads are vital for decongesting traffic in Mysuru city and improving connectivity to the suburbs.

Project Background

The Vinoba Road corridor spans approximately 12 km, while the JLB Road corridor extends about 15 km. Both projects have faced delays due to land acquisition hurdles. The formation of the valuation panel is seen as a step to resolve disputes over compensation amounts.

Local residents and business owners have expressed mixed reactions. While many welcome the infrastructure upgrade, some are concerned about displacement and fair compensation. The panel is expected to hold public hearings to address grievances.

The PWD has allocated a total budget of Rs 250 crore for the two corridors, including land acquisition and construction costs. The DPR prepared by Vistaara Infra Consultants will provide a detailed breakdown of these expenses.

In related news, the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has also proposed widening of several other roads in the city. The state government has assured full support for the project, which is part of the larger Mysuru Infrastructure Development Plan.

The panel is expected to submit its report within three months, after which the land acquisition process will begin. The PWD aims to complete the acquisition within one year and start construction by early 2027.
