Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday underscored that India's cultural values have positioned the country as a global leader and urged their preservation for future generations. He made the remarks after participating in a yoga session led by Baba Ramdev at the historic Undavalli Caves as part of the Yogandhra programme, held on the eve of International Yoga Day.
Naidu thanks Ramdev for expanding yoga's reach
Naidu expressed gratitude to Baba Ramdev for promoting yoga among the public and expanding its accessibility. He highlighted that yoga connects the body and mind and called for encouraging its practice among the younger generation. The chief minister noted that the state government is organizing yoga sessions at various locations, including spiritual and tourist sites.
Reflecting on his long-standing association with Ramdev, Naidu mentioned that they have interacted for about three decades. He emphasized the importance of using technology without addiction and suggested that practices like yoga and spirituality can support a balanced approach to technology use.
Undavalli Caves' cultural significance highlighted
Naidu pointed out that the Undavalli Caves, dating back to the 6th and 7th centuries, hold significant cultural and religious importance. The choice of venue underscored the state's commitment to blending heritage with wellness activities.
The chief minister also discussed the Sanjeevani programme, a state government initiative focused on preventive healthcare, which will incorporate yoga and related practices. He reiterated the government's efforts to increase green cover in the state and develop Amaravati as a planned capital city, aligning with national goals set by the Centre on yoga promotion.
Baba Ramdev calls for alignment with Viksit Bharat
Addressing the gathering, Baba Ramdev remarked that yoga has gained global recognition. He praised Naidu for supporting national initiatives and called for alignment with the goal of Viksit Bharat (Developed India). Ramdev then conducted a yoga practice session, demonstrating multiple asanas to participants.
Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav and senior officials attended the programme, which was part of a broader effort to promote wellness across the state. The event underscored the integration of traditional practices with modern health policies.
