Cadet Dies After First PT Parade at NDA
A first-term cadet of the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune died on Friday morning after complaining of uneasiness during routine physical training, according to the defence PRO office. Cadet Abhinav Bajpai, 17, from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, had joined the tri-services training institute at Khadakwasla on June 24.
During the routine morning physical training session, which followed the first official PT parade after his induction, Bajpai reported feeling unwell and suddenly lost consciousness, a release from the Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) stated.
Medical Response and Investigation
The cadet was immediately taken to the Military Hospital in Khadakwasla, where a medical team performed intensive resuscitation efforts. Despite their dedicated attempts, Bajpai could not be revived and was declared dead, the release added.
A Court of Inquiry (CoI) has been ordered to determine the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. The next of kin of the deceased cadet and local police have been informed, the PRO office confirmed.
NDA Expresses Condolences
“The National Defence Academy extends deepest condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time,” the release stated. Established seven decades ago, the NDA trains cadets for induction as officers in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
