Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday declared that Operation Sindoor has demonstrated India’s unwavering resolve to protect its sovereignty and interests. Speaking at a press conference, Singh emphasised that any future dialogue with Pakistan will be limited to discussions on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Operation Sindoor: A Display of Strength
Rajnath Singh highlighted that Operation Sindoor, a recent military exercise, showcased India’s preparedness to counter any threat. He asserted that the nation can respond to any misadventure by Pakistan in a manner ‘beyond their imagination.’ The operation involved coordinated maneuvers by the Army, Navy, and Air Force, simulating real-time combat scenarios.
According to Singh, Operation Sindoor was conducted in response to heightened cross-border terrorism and infiltration attempts from Pakistan. The exercise aimed to test India’s rapid deployment capabilities and inter-service synergy. ‘It sends a clear message that India will not tolerate any aggression,’ he stated.
Talks Only on PoK
Singh reiterated India’s long-standing position that bilateral talks with Pakistan will only focus on PoK. He noted that the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir, including PoK, is an integral part of India. ‘We are open to discussions, but only on the issue of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir,’ he said.
The defence minister accused Pakistan of continuing to sponsor terrorism and failing to control non-state actors. He cited recent intelligence reports indicating that terrorist launch pads remain active across the Line of Control. ‘Pakistan must take concrete steps to dismantle these infrastructure before any meaningful dialogue can happen,’ Singh added.
Response Beyond Imagination
Rajnath Singh warned that any Pakistani misadventure would be met with a response that is ‘beyond their imagination.’ He did not elaborate on specific retaliatory measures but hinted at a multi-dimensional strategy. ‘Our armed forces are fully capable and ready to defend every inch of our territory. The enemy will pay a heavy price for any aggression,’ he asserted.
Singh also praised the morale of the troops and the advancements in indigenous defence technology. He mentioned that India’s defence exports have increased, and the country is becoming self-reliant in weapons production.
Political Reactions
The statement drew mixed reactions from political parties. Opposition leaders questioned the timing of Operation Sindoor, suggesting it was a political stunt ahead of elections. However, the ruling party defended the government’s stance, praising Singh for his strong leadership.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry dismissed the remarks as ‘provocative’ and reiterated its claim over Kashmir. The Indian government responded by reaffirming its commitment to resolve the Kashmir issue bilaterally and peacefully.
Conclusion
Rajnath Singh’s remarks underline India’s firm stance on national security and its unwillingness to compromise on territorial integrity. Operation Sindoor has been projected as a symbol of India’s military might and diplomatic resolve.
