PM Modi Targets TMC Government in West Bengal Rally
Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a strong political message during his visit to Singur in West Bengal on Sunday. Speaking at a public rally, he declared that the people of the state are ready to remove the ruling Trinamool Congress from power. He described the Mamata Banerjee-led government's 15-year tenure as a period of "mega-jungleraj."
Development Projects Worth Over Rs 830 Crore Launched
The Prime Minister's visit had a dual purpose. He came to West Bengal to inaugurate multiple development initiatives with a total value exceeding Rs 830 crore. These projects aim to boost infrastructure and connectivity across the region.
PM Modi flagged off three new Amrit Bharat Express trains during the event. These trains will connect Kolkata with New Delhi, Varanasi, and Chennai, improving rail links between West Bengal and other major Indian cities.
Allegations Against State Government
In his address, Modi made serious accusations against the TMC administration. He claimed the state government actively blocks central schemes from reaching Bengal's citizens. "I want to serve the people of Bengal," he stated, "but the TMC government prevents the benefits of central schemes from reaching them."
The Prime Minister provided a specific example to support his claim. He mentioned that the central government created a digital platform for registering fishermen nationwide. According to Modi, the TMC government has put brakes on this initiative in West Bengal.
Historical and Cultural References
Modi connected his visit to significant cultural milestones. He noted that his appearance in Singur coincided with the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. The Prime Minister highlighted the special connection between the Hooghly district and this patriotic song.
"It is said that Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay gave Vande Mataram its complete form right here," Modi told the crowd. He suggested that just as Vande Mataram became a proclamation of independence, it should now become a mantra for developing West Bengal and India.
Infrastructure Initiatives Unveiled
The development projects launched during the visit include several important infrastructure improvements:
- Inauguration of the Jayrambati-Barogopinathpur-Maynapur rail line
- Flagging off a train service between Maynapur and Jayrambati
- Laying the foundation stone for the Extended Port Gate System in Hooghly district
The port project covers approximately 900 acres and features an Inland Water Transport terminal along with a road over bridge at Balagarh. This initiative aims to enhance cargo handling efficiency while reducing urban congestion.
Political Context and Future Vision
Modi's remarks come at a crucial political moment. The Bharatiya Janata Party is preparing for high-stakes assembly elections in West Bengal, scheduled to occur within the next three months. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that voters will choose change.
"The BJP has once again stopped the jungleraj in Bihar," Modi reminded the audience, "and now West Bengal is also ready to bid farewell to TMC's mega-jungleraj."
He praised West Bengal's natural advantages, mentioning its large rivers, extensive coastlines, and fertile land. Modi promised that a BJP government would enhance the unique strengths of every district in the state.
The Prime Minister also highlighted previous infrastructure investments in the region. He noted that over the last 11 years, the central government has made substantial investments in expanding the capacity of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port. Road construction under the Sagarmala scheme has improved connectivity to this important port facility.
Modi concluded by emphasizing the central government's commitment to eastern India's development. "The central government is working to meet the goal of a developed eastern India," he affirmed.
