Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public rally in Gujarat, launched a sharp attack on what he termed as 'appeasement politics' that undermines national self-respect. He asserted that forces promoting such politics are still active in India and urged citizens to remain vigilant.
Appeasement vs. National Interest
Modi stated that while India is progressing on the path of development, some elements are trying to divide society on communal lines for political gains. 'Those who prioritize vote banks over national interest are doing a great disservice to the country,' he said. The Prime Minister emphasized that his government is committed to the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' and will not tolerate any form of appeasement.
Opposition's 'Divisive' Agenda
Without naming any party, Modi accused the opposition of exploiting caste and religious sentiments to stay relevant. 'They have no vision for development, so they resort to dividing people. But the people of India have rejected such politics,' he added. He cited the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as examples of his government's commitment to national pride.
The rally, held in the backdrop of upcoming state elections, saw Modi reiterating the BJP's focus on development and good governance. He listed various welfare schemes, including free ration for the poor, housing for all, and the Jal Jeevan Mission, as evidence of his government's inclusive approach.
- PM Modi highlighted the success of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' initiative in improving the sex ratio and education of girls.
- He also mentioned the 'Ayushman Bharat' health scheme, which provides free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year.
- The Prime Minister urged the youth to contribute to nation-building and take pride in India's heritage.
National Self-Respect Above All
Modi asserted that national self-respect is non-negotiable and his government has taken several steps to restore India's pride on the global stage. 'From abrogating Article 370 to conducting surgical strikes, we have shown that India will not bow down to anyone,' he said. He also criticized the opposition for questioning the government's actions on national security.
The Prime Minister's remarks come at a time when the country is gearing up for general elections next year. Political analysts believe that Modi's aggressive stance on nationalism and development is aimed at consolidating the BJP's core voter base while reaching out to undecided voters.
Gujarat's Development Model
Modi also highlighted the development model of Gujarat, which he said is being replicated across the country. 'When I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, we focused on infrastructure, industry, and social welfare. Today, the entire nation is benefiting from that model,' he said. He credited the state's progress to the double-engine government at the center and the state.
The rally concluded with Modi urging the crowd to vote for the BJP in the upcoming elections to ensure continued progress and national security. 'Your vote will decide whether India moves forward or goes back to the era of instability and appeasement,' he warned.
