President Droupadi Murmu visited the headquarters of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla on Friday before returning to New Delhi, marking the conclusion of her five-day visit to Himachal Pradesh.
Presidential Visit to ARTRAC
The supreme commander of the Armed forces was received at the ARTRAC by Governor Kavinder Gupta and Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the ARTRAC. During the visit, she was briefed on the command's evolution and its crucial role in enhancing the operational efficiency of the Indian Army through high-quality training.
Key Initiatives Highlighted
Officials highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the ARTRAC, including advancements in drone training, adoption of niche technologies, the introduction of "Red Teaming", and increased focus on digitisation and automation. The President acknowledged ARTRAC's comprehensive role in shaping modern warfare strategies, developing resources, and strengthening collaboration with friendly foreign countries and sister services.
Emphasis on Innovation
She emphasised that the ARTRAC remains a vital pillar in advancing military excellence, self-reliance, and the vision of a developed India. Interacting with senior officials, she stressed the importance of continuous innovation in training to ensure national security.
Farewell Ceremony
Later, the President was given a warm farewell at Annandale Helipad by the Governor, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and other senior civil, police and military officials. This visit underscored the commitment to strengthening the Indian Army's training infrastructure and fostering self-reliance in defence.
