Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday took a veiled jibe at Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, taunting him for going on a bullock cart to cast his vote for the civic body elections in the state a day before.
In a cryptic post on X without naming Warring, Mann wrote: "Signs of unfortunate days have arrived ... Campaigning on Defenders (luxury SUVs), while arriving on traditional carts to cast vote ... Look how people are desperately thrashing about for the seat of power …"
On Tuesday, Raja Warring, along with his wife, Amrita Warring, rode a bullock cart (rehra) to a polling station in Muktsar to cast their votes during the Punjab local body elections. It was a symbolic protest aimed at highlighting the rising cost of living, with Warring stating that they chose the cart to protest continuous fuel price hikes under the BJP-led Centre.
"I can afford to get my vehicles refilled even if fuel prices rise, but what about daily wage earners and middle-class families who have fixed budgets for their two-wheelers?" Warring had said.
