Red Fort Blast Accused Reconnoitered Lucknow in August: NIA

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has disclosed new details in the Red Fort blast case, stating that two key accused individuals traveled from Faridabad to Lucknow between August 25 and 30, 2025, as part of a calculated reconnaissance mission. The trip was aimed at planning potential terror attacks on prominent landmarks in Lucknow.

Reconnaissance Details

According to NIA officials, the accused conducted a thorough survey of several key locations in the city, including government buildings, crowded markets, and religious sites. The agency believes that the reconnaissance was part of a larger conspiracy to carry out coordinated attacks in major Indian cities. The accused had reportedly been in touch with handlers based outside the country.

Investigation Progress

The NIA has been investigating the Red Fort blast, which occurred earlier this year, and has made several arrests. The agency is now focusing on the network of supporters and facilitators who provided logistics and financial support to the perpetrators. Officials have also recovered digital evidence, including maps and communication records, linking the accused to the Lucknow reconnaissance.
