Maharashtra minister Uday Samant has revealed that Anand Paranjpe was inducted into the Shiv Sena to prevent him from joining the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, and that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was kept in the loop throughout the process.
Background of Anand Paranjpe
Anand Paranjpe had won the Thane Lok Sabha constituency by-election in 2008 as a Shiv Sena candidate, following the death of his father. His political career has been closely linked with the Shiv Sena, but recent developments suggested he might align with the opposition MVA.
Uday Samant's Statement
Speaking to the media, Uday Samant explained that the induction was a strategic move to ensure Paranjpe remained within the party fold. Samant emphasized that the NCP was kept informed about the decision, maintaining transparency among allies. This move is seen as a significant step to strengthen the Shiv Sena's position in the Thane region.
The Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, has been working to consolidate its base amid shifting political alliances in Maharashtra. Paranjpe's induction is expected to boost the party's prospects in the upcoming elections.
