Chief Minister M K Stalin Inaugurates Major Development Projects in Sivaganga District
In a significant boost to infrastructure and education in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated a series of key projects in the Sivaganga district on Saturday. The event marked the opening of several high-value developments aimed at enhancing agricultural research, legal education, and information technology facilities in the region.
Agricultural College and Research Institute Inaugurated in Chettinad
The Chief Minister inaugurated new buildings at the Agricultural College and Research Institute in Chettinad, with a total investment of Rs 61.79 crore. Spanning approximately 2.52 lakh square feet, these state-of-the-art facilities are designed to support advanced agricultural studies and research.
The newly constructed buildings include:
- An administrative office for streamlined operations.
- Four modern classrooms equipped with internet facilities, capable of accommodating 250 students.
- Specialized laboratories for 12 different departments, fostering hands-on learning and innovation.
- Separate male and female hostels to provide comfortable accommodation for students.
- A restaurant and snack bar for dining convenience.
- A fully-equipped medical centre to ensure student health and safety.
- A multi-purpose hall named the 'Bharat Ratna Dr C Subramaniam Multipurpose Hall', with a seating capacity of 1,500 people.
- A comprehensive library and a dedicated student centre for academic and extracurricular activities.
Law College and Other Projects Launched in Karaikudi
Later, Stalin proceeded to Karaikudi, where he inaugurated the Government Law College, constructed at a cost of Rs 100.45 crore. This inauguration was part of a larger event that saw the completion of 49 other projects worth a total of Rs 2,559.50 crore.
Some of the notable projects inaugurated include:
- A CEmONC building at Thiruppuvanam Government Hospital, built with an investment of Rs 5 crore.
- A newly installed 1.5 tesla MRI machine at Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital, costing Rs 7.98 lakh.
- The renovation of the old bus stand in Karaikudi corporation, completed at a cost of Rs 3.95 crore.
In addition to these inaugurations, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for 28 new projects worth Rs 13.35 crore. He also distributed welfare assistance amounting to Rs 205.6 crore to 15,453 beneficiaries on behalf of various government departments, underscoring the government's commitment to social welfare.
Tidel Neo Park Inaugurated to Boost IT Sector
Further enhancing the district's technological infrastructure, Stalin inaugurated the Tidel Neo Park in Karaikudi. This IT park, constructed at a cost of Rs 28 crore, features a ground floor and two additional floors, covering 50,000 square feet. It is designed to accommodate up to 600 IT professionals, providing a modern workspace to foster innovation and job creation in the region.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including:
- Ministers K N Nehru, M R K Panneerselvam, K K S S R Ramchandran, Thangam Thennarasu, S Raghupati, K R Periyakaruppan, R S Rajakanappan, Siva V Meyyanathan, and T R B Raja.
