Chandranath Dutt, a close aide and personal assistant to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari, was shot dead in Madhyamgram near Kolkata on Wednesday night. The incident has triggered a sharp political reaction from both the BJP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

According to sources, Dutt's car was chased, overtaken, and fired upon, with at least four rounds discharged. Dutt suffered critical injuries and died during treatment, while his driver remains in critical condition at SSKM Hospital. Visuals from the scene showed bullet damage to the vehicle.
