In a controversial move, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has accused the ruling DMK government of intentionally preventing cricket fans from carrying whistles into Chennai's Chepauk Stadium during an international match on Sunday. According to TVK, security personnel and police officers stationed at select entry gates stopped spectators from bringing whistles into the venue. TVK deputy general secretary Raj Mohan, speaking from Coimbatore, criticized the move, stating, "For so many years, the sound of whistles resonated powerfully at Chepauk Stadium. There were even songs composed around whistles. But after TVK adopted the whistle as our symbol, the DMK has become fearful. At this rate, even traffic police and bus conductors could be barred from using whistles."

TVK National spokesperson Felix Gerald strongly condemned the Tamil Nadu Police's decision to restrict whistles at the stadium. He emphasized that whistles are an integral part of Chennai's cricket heritage and accused the DMK of political insecurity.
Felix Gerald asserted, "The whistle is deeply embedded in Chennai's cricket culture. This restriction reveals how politically insecure the DMK is, and they are blatantly misusing their authority. They cannot suppress the political will of the people of Tamil Nadu, who are demanding significant change."
