Two policemen were killed and another injured in an attack by unidentified gunmen in northwest Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials said on Friday.

The incident took place in the Lakki Marwat district, where assailants opened fire on a police patrol. The bodies of the deceased and the injured constable were shifted to a rural health centre for medico-legal formalities.

Police officials stated that a search operation has been launched to apprehend the attackers. No group has claimed responsibility for the assault so far. The injured constable is reported to be in stable condition.
