First Phase of Census 2027 Successfully Completed in Uttar Pradesh
The first phase of Census 2027 has been completed in Uttar Pradesh, with 100% coverage of the Houselisting and Housing Census exercise conducted between May 22 and June 20, according to the Directorate of Census Operations, Uttar Pradesh.
The exercise was carried out across all administrative units of the state, including 75 districts, 350 tehsils, 17 municipal corporations, 200 municipal councils, 545 nagar panchayats, 13 Cantonment boards, and eight industrial townships. The survey covered 1,195 census charges, nearly 1.04 lakh villages, around 15,000 wards, and 390,717 houselisting blocks.
Extensive Deployment of Enumerators and Supervisors
Around five lakh enumerators and supervisors were deployed for the extensive field operation. Their efforts ensured the successful completion of the exercise within the stipulated time frame despite challenging summer conditions, the Directorate noted.
This milestone marks a significant achievement for the state and lays a strong foundation for the nationwide census process, according to officials.
Second Phase to Begin in February 2027
The second phase of the Census will begin in February 2027. Further details on the next phase are expected to be announced closer to the date.
