Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan Commences Maiden Mizoram Visit
Vice-President of India, CP Radhakrishnan, touched down in Mizoram on Friday afternoon, embarking on his inaugural official trip to the state since assuming the vice-presidential office. This significant visit underscores the central government's engagement with the northeastern region.
Warm Welcome at Lengpui Airport
Upon arrival at Lengpui Airport, the Vice-President was greeted with a ceremonial guard of honour. He was received by a high-level delegation including Governor Gen Vijay Kumar Singh, School Education Minister Vanlalthlana, and various senior state officials, reflecting the importance accorded to his visit.
Formal Reception at Lok Bhavan
Later, at Lok Bhavan, Radhakrishnan was formally welcomed by Governor Singh, Chief Minister Lalduhoma, Home Minister K Sapdanga, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister C Lalsawivunga, and other dignitaries. The Mizoram government hosted a cultural program followed by a dinner in his honour on Friday evening, showcasing local traditions and hospitality.
Chief Guest at Mizoram University Convocation
On Saturday, the Vice-President is scheduled to grace the 20th Convocation of Mizoram University at Tanhril in Aizawl as the chief guest. This event highlights his role in promoting higher education and academic excellence in the state.
Subsequent Trip to Tripura
Following the convocation, Radhakrishnan will depart for Tripura to attend the 14th Convocation of Tripura University in a similar capacity, continuing his focus on educational initiatives across the Northeast.
