VP Radhakrishnan: Women's Academic Excellence May Lead to Men Seeking Equality
VP: Women's Success Could Reverse Gender Inequality

Vice-President Highlights Women's Rising Academic Dominance

Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan stated on Sunday that as women continue to excel in education and various fields, a time may come when men will need to advocate for equal opportunities. Speaking at an event for 'Lakhpati Didis'—a gathering of self-help group members and women entrepreneurs—at the International Fair Ground in Agartala, he emphasized the remarkable academic achievements of female students across India.

Observations from Convocation Ceremonies

Radhakrishnan shared insights from attending multiple convocation ceremonies, where he consistently observed women outperforming their male counterparts. During visits to states including Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura, he noted a higher number of women receiving gold medals in universities. Currently, women constitute approximately 60% of graduates nationwide, a trend he believes could lead to a future reversal of gender inequality.

Potential Shift in Gender Dynamics

If this trend persists, Radhakrishnan suggested it might result in a scenario where men seek greater opportunities for equality. He encouraged the 'Lakhpati Didis' to aim higher, envisioning a time when they could be recognized as 'Crorepati Didis'. He praised government initiatives such as 'Lakhpati Didi,' 'Drone Didi,' and the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' for enhancing women's contributions to national progress.

Celebrating Academic Excellence in Tripura

At the 14th convocation ceremony of Tripura University, Radhakrishnan highlighted the pride evident among graduates and their families, framing the event as a celebration of academic excellence and perseverance. He reflected on his recent visits to northeastern states like Nagaland and Mizoram, expressing admiration for the region's natural beauty and cultural richness. He also spoke fondly of Tripura's vibrant traditions and deep historical legacy.

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

The Vice-President's remarks underscore the growing impact of women in education and entrepreneurship, signaling a transformative shift in societal roles. His call for continued support and recognition of women's achievements aims to foster a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
