Kanpur: Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday stirred political reactions by stating that 26 Samajwadi Party (SP) MPs are on the verge of switching sides, but the BJP is not actively engineering their defection. He added that by 2027, these MPs will sever ties with the SP and join the BJP. Maurya made these remarks while addressing a 'Prabuddh Varg Sammelan' organized by the BJP in Kanpur.
BJP's Third Term and Development Goals
Maurya claimed that the BJP government is poised to secure a third consecutive term in the state. Under its leadership, both the nation and the state will continue to achieve new developmental milestones until 2047, he asserted.
Unprecedented Mandate in Upcoming Elections
He confidently stated that in the upcoming assembly elections, regardless of whether the SP, BSP, and Congress contest separately or form a coalition, the BJP will emerge victorious with an unprecedented mandate.
Ram Temple Offerings Theft Investigation
Responding to queries about the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Maurya said that those responsible for any wrongdoing would face consequences. He confirmed that an investigation is underway, with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the matter. Maurya emphasized that the temple of Lord Ram is held in high esteem and the truth will emerge after the probe.
He expressed confidence that anyone who has misappropriated offerings will not go unpunished. “After the investigation, restitution will be sought from those found responsible,” he said, adding that justice will prevail.
BJP's 12-Year Achievements
Reflecting on the BJP's 12 years in power, Maurya highlighted key achievements such as the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, and the implementation of several welfare schemes for the poor under the BJP government.
