A police party from the local Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mehal Singh, arrested a person on Monday with 199 grams of heroin. The accused's accomplice remains at large, and raids are being conducted to apprehend him.

Accused Identified as Karamjit Singh

ASI Mehal Singh stated on Tuesday that the arrested individual has been identified as Karamjit Singh, a resident of Colony Patti Road in Sarhali. According to the police, Karamjit Singh obtained the narcotic substance from Baba Gurpreet Singh, who also resides in the same colony on Patti Road, Sarhali. While Karamjit Singh has been taken into custody, a search operation has been launched to arrest Gurpreet Singh.

Details of the Arrest

Mehal Singh explained that the police party was patrolling the area under his supervision when they apprehended the accused under suspicious circumstances near Gurdwara Baba Hisoana in Naushehra Pannuan. A total of 199 grams of heroin was seized from his possession at the time of arrest.

Legal Action Under NDPS Act

A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 21-B, 29, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are continuing their efforts to capture the absconding accomplice and are investigating the source of the heroin supply.
