A significant fire incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at a vehicle yard in the Malwan police station area of Fatehpur district, resulting in damage to approximately a dozen seized vehicles parked on the premises. The prompt intervention of local police and fire brigade personnel successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other areas.
Incident Details
According to police officials, the fire erupted between 11:30 am and 12 noon near Baroura village, situated along the highway. The yard is reportedly used for storing vehicles that have been seized or repossessed by finance companies. At the time of the incident, around 134 small and large vehicles were stationed at the site.
Emergency Response
Upon receiving information about the fire, teams from Malwan police station, the UP-112 emergency service, and the fire department promptly arrived at the scene. Firefighters worked diligently and managed to bring the flames under control after considerable effort.
Damage Assessment
Initial reports indicate that approximately 12 to 13 vehicles sustained partial or complete damage in the incident. The remaining vehicles were successfully moved to safety in a timely manner. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Preliminary Investigation
Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have originated in a nearby agricultural field due to a fault in a low-tension electricity line passing overhead. Sparks from the faulty line allegedly ignited dry vegetation in the field, and the fire gradually spread to the adjacent vehicle yard.
Official Statement
According to SP Fatehpur, Abhimanyu Manglik, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. He commended the swift response of police and fire personnel, noting that their timely action prevented a much larger loss at the crowded yard. Authorities are continuing to probe the incident to determine the precise sequence of events.
