Patna: In a tragic incident on Saturday, a 40-year-old man was shot dead in the Beur locality under the Phulwarisharif police station area, allegedly over a longstanding land dispute, according to police officials. The deceased has been identified as Anand Kumar, and his family has accused certain relatives of being responsible for the murder. An FIR has been registered, and the police have initiated a thorough investigation into the case.

Details of the Incident

Phulwarisharif SDPO-1 Sushil Kumar stated that the criminals shot Anand behind the ear near a private hospital in the Beur locality. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Police have sent the body for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Family Allegations

According to the family, Anand had been embroiled in a bitter dispute with his paternal relatives over a piece of land. The matter was pending in court as a title suit. Anand's brother, Arvind Kumar, alleged that some family members conspired to kill him due to the unresolved land issue. The family suspects two relatives—Bhutali Rai and Raju Kumar—of being directly involved in the killing.

“All angles are being probed, including the family’s allegations. Raids are underway to identify and arrest the accused. An FIR has been registered against the relatives based on the application filed by the deceased’s family. Police are also scanning CCTV footage from the crime scene to identify the assailants,” the SDPO added.
