A 26-year-old taxi driver from Uttar Pradesh embarked on a 700-kilometer journey to Madhya Pradesh's Datia district after his girlfriend set an unusual condition to prove his love. Rajkumar Gupta, a resident of Chandauli district, was reportedly told by his girlfriend that he must get a selfie clicked with District Collector Swapnil Wankhede or risk losing their relationship.
The Journey Begins
Rajkumar, who works as a taxi driver, took the challenge seriously. He traveled by train to Jhansi on Friday and then took a bus to Datia. After checking into a hotel, he went to the collectorate on Saturday, only to find it closed due to a holiday. He spent Sunday waiting and returned again on Monday afternoon, hoping to finally meet the officer.
Collapse at the Collectorate
However, after days of travel, extreme heat, and exhaustion, Rajkumar suddenly fell ill inside the collectorate premises while an official meeting was underway. He reportedly developed severe head pain while drinking water and collapsed. Officials present at the spot rushed him to the district hospital in an official vehicle, where he was treated.
Collector's Kind Gesture
When Collector Swapnil Wankhede learned about the unusual visitor, he personally visited the hospital nearly two hours later and clicked photographs and selfies with Rajkumar, helping him fulfill the challenge. Rajkumar later sent the pictures and videos to his girlfriend, who, according to him, was “very happy” after receiving them.
Financial Strain
The journey, however, drained his savings, leaving him short of money even to pay his hotel bill. Though the collector later invited him to visit his residence after recovery, Rajkumar said his wish had always been to meet him in his office.
