The UT Labour Department has formally invited objections and suggestions from the general public, employers, worker organisations, and other stakeholders regarding the draft rules framed under the four Labour Codes. This move aims to gather feedback before finalising the regulations that will govern wages, industrial relations, social security, and occupational safety in the union territory.

Draft Rules Published Online

According to a notification issued by the department, the draft rules have been uploaded on its official portal at labour.chd.gov.in. Stakeholders are required to submit their objections and suggestions within the prescribed time limits specified under each respective Labour Code. The department has emphasised the importance of public participation in shaping these rules.

Deadlines for Submission

Objections and suggestions on The Chandigarh Code on Wages Rules, 2026, framed under The Code on Wages, 2019, and The Industrial Relations (Chandigarh) Rules, 2026, framed under The Industrial Relations Code, 2020, may be submitted within 30 days from the date of the notification. Similarly, feedback on The Chandigarh Social Security Rules, 2026, framed under The Code on Social Security, 2020, and The Chandigarh Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules, 2026, framed under The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, may be submitted within 45 days.

Scope of the Labour Codes

The four Labour Codes consolidate and simplify 29 central labour laws into comprehensive codes covering wages, industrial relations, social security, and occupational safety, health, and working conditions. Stakeholders are encouraged to review the documents and provide their input to ensure the rules address practical concerns of workers and employers alike.
