A violent family dispute between two brothers erupted in a Varanasi district village, leaving ten people injured, including women and teenagers. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a police response.
Violence Erupts Over a Misunderstanding
The clash occurred on Wednesday night in Chakkhan village, which falls under the Sikandarpur police station area in Ballia. According to eyewitness accounts, the trouble began when a younger brother, Virendra Rajbhar (40), misinterpreted a conversation his elder brother, Harindra Rajbhar (45), was having with someone else. Virendra believed Harindra was complaining about him, which sparked a heated argument. This verbal spat quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Families Join Fray, Sticks and Rods Used
The initial fight between the two brothers soon drew in other family members from both sides. The situation turned extremely violent as both groups used sticks and rods to attack each other. In the ensuing chaos, women and children were caught in the crossfire, leading to multiple injuries. The sudden outbreak of violence caused panic among the residents of the village.
The injured from one side included Harindra Rajbhar, his wife Munni Devi (43), daughter Anjali (22), Shivani Devi (26), and son Abhay (16). From the other side, the injured were Virendra Rajbhar, his wife Mamta Devi (38), daughter Sandhya (16), Baleshwari Devi (65), and son Prince Kumar (18).
Police Intervention and Aftermath
Following the incident, all ten injured individuals were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Sikandarpur. Given the seriousness of their conditions, six of them—Virendra Rajbhar, Mamta Devi, Sandhya, Harindra Rajbhar, Munni Devi, and Anjali—were referred to the district hospital for advanced medical care.
The Sikandarpur police arrived promptly at the scene and managed to bring the volatile situation under control. Station in-charge Moolchand Chaurasiya stated that necessary legal action would be initiated after receiving formal complaints from both parties involved in the clash. As a precautionary measure, police surveillance is being maintained in the village, although officials report that the situation has now returned to normal.
